California Assembly speaker Karen Bass says, voters were tired and confused, and that's why they rejected the tax hikes.
See, it has nothing to do with California's bloated bureaucracy, its 235,000 state workers with solid gold pensions, or the $13 Billion spent each year on services for illegal immigrants. It has nothing to do with former legislators being appointed to cushy six-figure jobs on useless state commissions. No, it's because all this democracy made voters too tired to realize that taxes were good for them.
A few weeks ago, this same Karen Bass was caught trying to sneak through a pay raise for her legislative cronies despite the state's financial crisis.
Maybe we should make the message a little easier for the California assembly to understand...
